Encouraging residents of Delhi to incorporate solar rooftops by providing various incentives and making it profitable for the common man.
Long description
We propose a two-pronged approach towards making solar rooftops a reality in Delhi.
- Awareness: We organize multiple awareness programs to the following effects:
- A new policy was passed by the Government of Delhi which allows the residents to sell the excess electricity generated from their rooftop solar panels, thus making it a profitable, environment friendly venture.
- Furthermore, GBI (Generation Based Incentive) of Rs. 2 is paid on the gross energy generated by the solar device for 3 years.
- Government of India provides up-to 30% subsidy on the purchase of rooftop solar panels
- Even without the above additional incentives, if we were to suppose a monthly consumption of 700 units of electricity, a suggestible solar unit would be 1.1 kW costing Rs. 90,000 which would generate up-to 140 units per month, therefore reducing the electricity bill from Rs. 5000 to Rs 3700. This would give a lifetime ROI of 21.6% causing a lifetime saving of Rs. 600000.
- Service: Connecting the people to the sellers:
- We use an interactive website which allows the person to chose solar devices specific to their need, showing the best configuration for them.
- Those who are unable to access this website, can access the same information by calling on a helpline.
