A vertical aquaponics system that enables people to grow crops on the unused sides of large buildings. Decreasing the need for packaging.

Long description

Each year 100 million ton of food goes to waste in Europe. The biggest losses are in the consumer and production level. Also Europe has about 2.5 billion ton of packaging waste, this causes soil pollution and increases the CO2 emission.

The way we reduce waste and increase awareness is by making a product that can be used by all ages, directly connects people to nature, and makes growing food beautifully present in our city landscapes. Babylon enables people in huge buildings to plant and harvest their own fruits, vegetables and even fish! Using a complex interwoven system of bacteria, fish and plants also known as aquaponics. Because the food grows next to the people, little packaging or storage is required.

The way Babylon works is by placing a vertical garden on the empty walls of huge buildings, thus capturing unused sunlight and turning it into nutrients. Babylon enables the user to harvest and grow plants even on skyscrape size walls.
