The idea evolves from the Indian tradition where, people used to have chick blind(it is retractable blind made by hand weaving) in their houses to protect themselves from sun, by passers peeking into the house.

The Chick will be made from khus(Vetiver roots) which is native to India, tied on bamboo flats to give some rigidity and weight and will be tied to hollow bamboo at top. Bamboo is not only strong, cheap, recyclable but also round which will help in rolling the chick up whenever it is not required. The bamboo will have pin holes at its entire length facing the khus mat to allow water droplets to fall on it. The water will be introduced from the corner of the bamboo through flexible pvc pipes which are hidden in the immediate building structure such as lintel, beam, slab. The pvc pipe is connected to a Bicycle which is equipped with Pedal power water pump(PPWP)*.

The bicycle could be placed anywhere in the building.This will not only promote health by exercising but will also result in improving the air quality and generating electricity. The khus mat after getting wet will humidify hot air from outside and the cool moisture laiden air will enter the building premises through cross ventilation.  This will reduce dependence on Air conditioning.
