First Steps Toward a Responsible Mexico

The objective of this project is to improve the separation of waste by building a system for disposal of organic waste using paper bags.

Long description

In July 2017 a new law was approved in Mexico City in, which states that in order to collect garbage from households, people must separate organic waste from inorganic.

The vast majority of people in Mexico is not ready to be compliant with this law. There are two main issues. Mexican people are not used to and do not separate their thrash, and the ones that do use containers (like plastic bags) that are not adequate to store organic matter.

Our solution to this problem consist in system for separation of organic waste through a paper bag which allows the flow of oxygen in order to minimize the fermentative effects that produce bad smell and appearance of insects. It meets all requirements for composting and digestion.
