KYL is a front attachment for standing fans to lower room temperature using Bernoulli’s principle, decreasing the need for air conditioners.
Long description
KYL is designed with a humidity filter and works on the premise of Bernoulli’s Principle, funnelling airflow to cool and lower the humidity levels in a closed room. Designed to fit 16″ fans—most common size for standing fans—the funnels at the back of the grill are shaped in triangles, as this leverages on air pressure to cause the difference in temperature. When air travels through the small opening, with the same amount of energy in its input and output, molecules would expand rapidly on the output side, reducing the temperature of a closed room up to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
As for the filter, it is ring-shaped with overlapping ends, for users to easily wrap it around the back of the fan head. Silica gel is sewn into the filter, which absorbs moisture from the air, lowering the overall humidity. To reuse the gel, simply vacuum and sun-dry the filter.
To attach KYL to a standing fan, users just have to simply clasp KYL over their fans, clip the parts together with the leather straps and button. There is an open concept for the back design of KYL so that it allows the air to flow through the filter.
Furthermore, to stay environmentally friendly, we chose materials that are eco-friendly, for the body we chose to use polypropylene plastic, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene for the rims and leather for the straps. We chose these materials as they are widely used, making it easily manufactured.
