Mat.Mx is a bio-based polymer created using organic waste used for product design.

Long description

The bio-based material would be created using the organic waste from restaurants, office cafeterias, supermarkets and other such places, often times biomaterials are created using new raw materials, but the waste from these places can often go unrecycled and can oversaturate the city dumpsters. Using them as the primary source for biomaterials could reduce the time they spend on the dumpster or completely omit that step and create a useful material for packaging, furniture design, single use tableware and other such products.

From the waste obtained, there is the possibility to extract important substances such as starches, cellulose, pectin, chitin, lactic acid, collagen,  and proteins that are used to create bioplastics ( for example PLA from raw plant material, composite plastic from avocado.. etc). And alongside other organic waste it is possible to create a bio-based material that could have a diverse application because of the variety of properties the extracted substances have.
