A community garden used to promote green living, community development, & gardening in a sustainable way using plastic bottles and aquaponic

Long description

Today, Mexico leads the world in bottled water use, I am proposing a hydroponic, vertical community garden constructed from using these bottles collected from Mexico City. By starting in various parts of the cities, initiatives will be launched to collect plastic bottles, which will then be used to construct vertical gardens throughout communities. The versatility of vertical gardens cannot be overstated. Not only are they convenient, easy to create and maintain, and quick to brighten up and revitalize spaces, they are also great ways to recycle many plastic bottles at the same time. By implementing hydroponics, each bottle, stacked on top of one another with a small drip system at the top can flourish with plant life to feed surrounding communities. By using hydroponics, plants are proven to grow 2-3 times faster, use up to 95% less water, and can be used to plant up to 4 times the amount of crops in the same amount of area as traditional farming techniques. While this initiative would begin in Mexico City it could work its way out to surrounding areas and eventually throughout Mexico to promote more sustainable farming practices while tackling the task of eliminating large amounts of waste.
