Long description

The main users of our solution are those who are not in a condition to buy and install Air conditioners, Air Purifiers like students, migrants. We want to cultivate a culture, of a more sustainable way of cooling houses. The product is a window attachment – Praanum. It cools the air coming from outside by around 4 degree celsius as well as purify it for PM 2.5 and PM 10. It is a portable device, so it can be easily be detached and attached to different window sizes. Portability is important as those with rented accommodation can use it wherever they stay. It is very cost effective to arrest the problem of energy poverty. Working: Cooling is achieved through venturi effect. We did an experiment to check this and achieved temperature difference of 3-4 degree celsius. Air Purification is achieved by using wooden charcoal cladded terracotta cones for adsorption of PM2.5 and PM10 particles from air passing through the window attachment. Areas where the air flow is not enough due to close proximity of the walls of nearby houses, we intend to use fans to induce draught. Praanam allows light to seep in as the fin material is flexiglass and fins are rotatable.  For making it a universal attachment, we used a mechanism comprising of screws. On rotating this, the attachment will expand in horizontal direction, in turn grabbing the window frame.
