SaaS Temperature regulator is a solution to help the metropolitan region of Amsterdam with its heat island effect
Long description
Green Urban Data contributes to the adaptation to climate change in cities focusing on the reduction of effects of temperature. We have developed a software to help policy makers to improve the decision-making process regarding environmental strategies.
Using open data satellite technology, our own algorithms and a user-friendly tool we can monitor any city, locating the hot spots and the most vulnerable areas, elaborating a list of recommended actions and predicting the benefits of each recommendation. These actions can be, for example, the creation of green urban areas, the quality improvement of the existing ones, cool pavements or green/cool roofs.
The extreme temperatures lead to increasing energy consumption and more CO2 emissions. With our recommendations, cities can stabilise temperature avoiding the heat island effect. Furthermore, thermally stable cities decrease their energy bills and reduce carbon dioxide emissions becoming a weapon against climate change.
Other benefit from reducing effects of temperature in cities is the improvement of quality of life of citizens. Not only the air in cities is cleaner but the use of public (green) spaces boost cultural and social events, fostering socialisation and the sense of community.
