Technology High School Lesson: Sustainable Products: Learn to build a solar panel system
Affordable solar power by means of Education.

Long description

Knowledge is Power, Knowledge is acceptance, Involvement brings application, when we motivate and properly inform the young the elderly will follow and start of a leap in technical development will follow.

Basically it comes down to developing a step-by-step (IKEA manual style) guide for children to learn how a solar power system works, witch components it’s made of, where to get them in the global market, why and how to make decisions on its implementation get a sense and feeling on basic technical skills. Re-usability (cradle to cradle) of components is one of the key’s in this process. The parts only to be ‘new’ are the solar cells, the wiring and the two clear foil sheets that laminates the solar cells and wiring, making it waterproof. Depending on the size of the system a power inverter is needed, in the education they learn how wiring works (wiring in parallel, series ore a combination of the two).
A simple frame can be build in Technical lessons on woodworking and/ore Steel.

A construction worker can be hired to install the system ore special teams can be formed.

If funded by City ore government and implemented on all High Schools, the panels can be bought by the parents for home use ore installed for City use.
(In case of Amsterdam; maybe contact Schiphol Airport, as seen on satellite images there is a lot of space around the landing strips on that airport. When filled, solar farms can be build.)
