In Amsterdam, capital of Dance Music, we'll to entertain and educate half a million young people with big Zero Emission LED stage screens.
Long description
Who are we and why this idea? Veejays.com is a leading Amsterdam-based community of video performers and artists. We create mesmerizing video backdrops for concerts, festivals other stage events. Think Tomorrowland, Lowlands, National Ballet, Qlimax, 3FM Awards, Fashion week, etc. It bothers us that we are happily to spreading good vibes at all those big events, yet with all those large LED screen installations, also are responsible for burning a lot of diesel and using wasteful technical equipment. We don’t want to down dancing on a CO2 volcano anymore!
So, what exactly is our big idea? We are in a promising early stage of a collaboration with an outstanding LED screen manufacturer (Artixium Europe), and a Bill Clinton-backed Dutch company who invented windows that are simultaneously solar panels (Physee). Together, we want to develop LED screens that generate 100% of their own electricity. We calculate that our existing components combined produce an energy-neutral screen. We’re getting ready to proof the technology on festivals. Together with two festival organizers, we want to bring the first prototypes of the Zero Emission Screen at suitable events in and around Amsterdam in summer 2019. Festivals that are already opening up to sustainability with e.g. more plant based food and certified/circular materials. For this pilot and prototype we seek the support of the Clean Energy Challenge. To test and improve our technology, create awareness and buzz in front of a great audience, with outlook on a real, scalable future marketplace.
